On the dome of the mace is a disk displaying a lyre, symbolizing music encircled by 13 stars representing the original 13 colonies, which includes New Jersey and the current home station of the 78th Army Band. On the lower portion and on both sides of the mace, the distinctive unit insignia worn by the unit. The three waves at the bottom of the mace allude to the Delaware Valley consisting of counties from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
